Will the new Apple iPhone 7 be a mini version or the successor to iPhone 6S? There are so many questions like this in the air as the rumors about the new iPhone smartphone. It is undoubtedly among the most anticipated gadgets of the year. After last year’s iPhone 6S upgrade, tech fans are eager to see what the world’s most valuable company has planned for 2016. Several are predicting that the launching of both the phones is around the same time as the previous ones that were released during autumn or it may be during summers. There are also rumors that the Apple may launch them at the end of April, 2016. However, there is no solid information on these, but the assumptions and predictions is what we have and has brought for you around the clock information that is going to be very useful if you want the latest Apple iPhone 7 news. We will try to give all the details, features and the launch date of the upcoming smartphone from Apple.
So, let’s have a look in to the detailed description of the upcoming new Apple’s Smartphone.
What we expect from the new Member of the iPhone Series:
Apple, as always, will continue to release two versions of each iPhone, so we can expect to see an iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in this year. We have already seen Apple iPhone 6 & 6S which are very good phones but they too need improvement in features like speaker performance, battery life and some overheating issues and so, which we expect that Apple will improve in the new iPhone. These days, what consumer of smartphones needs is the good design, great camera, more RAM, better battery life and security the most. The security part of Apple has never been an issue, but what is expected from it is the better design like the curved displays that are getting popular these days, the bigger battery life and a very great camera which Smartphone Giant like Samsung has provided in its new Galaxy S7 series which is gaining popularity day by day. In short, what we expect from new iPhone 7 is:
- No headphone jack
- Dual-lens camera
- Thinner design, but similar to iPhone 6S
- Redesigned antenna bands
- Upgraded processor
Apple is said to be planning to stick to the 4.7 and 5.5-inches screen sizes it first introduced with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Some rumors are being heard that the upcoming iPhone will not have a home button which was in the iPhone 5s, 6 and 6s, which sports Touch ID fingerprint scanners for unlocking the handset and also to verify purchases made through Apple Pay. Therefore, it seems as Apple is likely to feature some form of bio-metric fingerprint scanner technology in place of the button.
There are also rumors circulating for a while indicating that Apple is planning to remove the 3.5mm jack so as to make the phone slimmer may be by 1mm. By doing so, it may introduce its own set of headphones that could be connected via USB port or they may be wireless like Bluetooth headsets.
It has also been heard that the company may introduce three iPhones this year in September i.e. the iPhone 7, 7 Plus and an all-new high-end iPhone Pro with two cameras. A newly leaked image of what may be the iPhone 7 Plus appeared on a Chinese website called Bastille Post which appears to show a dual-camera sensor on the back of the device, as well as small antenna lines along the bottom edges.
Another website called MacRumors says in a February report that Apple may reduce the size of the camera lens so that it could stick with the body, rather than sitting proud like it does on the iPhone 6S. DigiTimes also reported in early February that Apple received dual-lens camera samples from Largan Technology and other lens makers from Japan and China which it may test for using in iPhone 7 Plus or a premium version of it.
In a late January report, KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the most accurate Apple seer around, has suggested that Apple will offer a “premium” version of the iPhone 7 Plus, which will feature a dual-camera system. He also hinted that Apple acquired Linx Imaging technology can also be used in the special 7 Plus model. This technology takes two independent photos and blends them together for an overall better image. Ming Chi Kuo has been called “the most accurate Apple analyst in the world” by Business Insider; and the “most reliable industry watcher on the planet when it comes to Apple” by BGR.
Apple is said to be making final rounds with the phone’s body, so we don’t know what it is going to be like, but the rumors says that it will be the successor of iPhone 6S in design.
Here are the Apple iPhone 7 Features ( to be confirmed)
As we had seen iPhone 6 & 6S, so what we expect in new iPhone 7 series is that it should be different and better in looks and design than its predecessors as Apple keeps same design for two generations and then comes with a different one the next. It may be possible that Apple use different material this time for redesigning the body of the phone, so that it can be more durable. Before the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched, there was speculation that Apple would use Sapphire glass for the display and Liquid metal for the chassis, and may be this time, the company is ready to blend these two to make a great body for the new iPhone.
Macrumors, along with other reports, indicated that the design of new iPhone 7 is somewhat similar to the iPhone 6S though more thinner. With the removal of headphone jack, advances in cell-panel technology and a slim lightening port, the phone will going to be slimmer, like iPod touch which is about 0.24 inch (6.1mm). It is suggested that it will be between 6mm to 6.5mm.
Apple may be planning to change the design of the antenna bands on the device. The bands located at the top, bottom and sides of the device are rumored to remain on the phone, but the rear bands are to be eliminated for a sleek look. The thinner Lightning port, it is heard that Apple plans to slim it’s size, and will continue to be compatible with existing Lightning connector and Lightning cables.
There are varied rumors on the rear camera. Some rumors indicates that there will be a camera that will less protrude or not at all, but there is an assuming image of an iPhone 7 Plus that features a camera that continues to protrude. Apple is also planning to integrate improved electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding technique in the device, to individually shield most of the major chips in the iPhone. (EMI shields are used in all electronic devices to prevent wireless interference between different products.). Perhaps this will allow Apple to place various chips in the smartphone closer together, thus shrinking the device or leave room for new components or a larger battery. So, it can be one of the ways, by which the company will find extra space to make iPhone 7 thinner than iPhone 6S.
No 3.5mm Headphone Jack this time:
In June 2014, Forbes contributor Gordon Kelly theorized that Apple would be getting rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack (TRS connector) on the iPhone 7 and several leaks have proven Kelly’s theory to be true since then. In place of the Jack, Apple may adopt an all-in-one Lightning port that will support both charging and music playback with Lightning-equipped headphones which will need a Lightning connector or a 3.5mm Jack-to-Lightning adapter to connect to the Lightning port on the bottom of the phone. By doing so, it will boost overall audio quality.
The device will also support Wireless Bluetooth headphones i.e. the headphones can be connected through Bluetooth. Most probably, the it could be shipped with Lightning-powered EarPods. Apple recently received a patent for a “Detachable wireless listening device” which highlights headphones that can accept audio signals through a cord in one mode and Bluetooth in another.
The wireless earphones, having a battery life of approximately four hours due to the separate chips and batteries in each one, will reportedly charge through an included carrying case that also serves as a rechargeable battery to extend battery life as much as possible.
A Smart Connector!!!!!
An image of a device which is said to be the iPhone 7 Plus has released, with a Smart Connector, a magnetic port that can connect to the Apple Smart Keyboard and provide it with power without requiring a Bluetooth connection. When Apple released the iPad Pro in September 2015, it included the feature of Smart Connector. Here is what the Smart Connector looks like on the iPad Pro:
There have been no other rumors pointing towards the inclusion of a Smart Connector, so if there is a Smart Connector in the iPhone 7, it is not clear what it will be used for. Some assume that it will be added for charging purposes because the Lightning port may be needed for listening to music.
Future iPhones and a Camera with Dual-Lens:
Apple is following its tradition again by calling future smartphones, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. But rumor has it that Apple will be launching yet another smartphone called the iPhone 7 Pro which is expected to have a dual-lens system, each with different focal lengths which means images captured are clearer and brighter with less noise and truer color, allowing for pictures that include more detail, especially in low light conditions.
The dual-lens camera system also includes 2-3x optical zoom meaning that the camera should be comparable to high quality DSLR cameras. The technology that will power the camera in the 7 Pro was obtained by purchase of Israeli camera company LinX Imaging last year. Another useful feature LinX Imaging created was its depth mapping technology, which supports the ability to take 3D scans. Therefore, by implementing LinX’s camera technology into the Pro, Apple could be able to prevent the camera lens from protruding on future iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices.
Above is a render of the 7 Pro put together by Feld & Volk. It appears that the phone will have a protruding enclosure rather than two circular protrusions. And the antenna bands will be placed along the top and bottom edges of the smartphone.
iPhone 7 with More RAM:
Another prediction from Ming-Chi Kuo, security analyst form KGI Securities, in a leaked report published in November 2015 states that the 7 and the 7 Plus may have differing amounts of RAM. The smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will have 2GB of RAM, while the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus is expected with 3GB RAM, embedded in an A10 chip.
Storage is yet another important factor of any smartphone, and may be different in iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus. Rumor says that 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus could have up to 256GB of storage capacity that may not be available with the iPhone 7. However, it is unclear whether the 7 Plus will have the 16GB base storage option or not. The iPhone 6S Plus has 16GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options.
256GB is a capacity that is not offered in any of Apple’s current iOS devices, so it is questionable as to whether Apple would introduce such a high-capacity iPhone.
Charging: Wireless or what?
When phones runs for hours, it requires charging and what better way if it is wireless in nature. Samsung introduced the wireless technique of charging in its smartphones over the last few generations. So, it is likely that Apple will also consider introducing this in its new smartphones. As with the Lightning port being used for music playback, there will be no way to charge the device while headphones are plugged in, this makes assumptions for integration of wireless charging in iPhone 7.
The first Apple product that supports wireless charging is the Apple Watch, which uses wireless inductive charging. A wireless charging feature would be essential for charging the iPhone if the user has headphones connected to the Lightning port especially if the Smart Connector rumor turns out to be false. Though, there is no guarantee this feature of wireless charging will make it into a finished product. It is also not clear what method Apple would use to implement wireless charging.
LTE: It is in rumors that Apple may source LTE Modems from Intel, most likely the Intel 7360 LTE modem which means the iPhone 7 could have download speeds of up to 450 Mbps, uplink speeds of 100 Mbps and support for the LTE category 10 and 29 bands. It is reported that thousands of workers are working on the Intel LTE chip, which if works, then it is likely that Apple may replace Qualcomm for Intel Modem chips.
LTE or Long Term Evolution (Commonly marketed as 4G LTE) is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals.
Battery Life: With the amount of work a phone do these days, especially high-end app usage, playing games, watching videos or movies, surfing or anything, the battery should have long-hours life. We expect that the battery life in the iPhone 7 could be similar to or slightly better than that of iPhone 6S. An image of the battery via a Chinese website called Digi.tech.qq.com has been leaked. It is said to be for the 7 and has a capacity of 7.04 watt-hours, almost identical to the iPhone 6 which had a 7.01 watt-hour and is about 6.5% more than the 6.61 watt-hours in the iPhone 6S. This means that the charge capacity will be similar to the iPhone 6.
Water-Resistant And Dust-proof Feature: With Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S7, Samsung definitely has built smartphones that are water resistant. And Apple may want to go in this direction as every other smartphone company will. By getting rid of the headphone jack, it makes the process of making the Apple iPhone water-resistance even easier. To make the device waterproof and dust-proof, Apple is also going to use new compound materials and would also enable Apple to hide the antenna bands on the iPhone 7 that allows Bluetooth, WiFi and carrier signals to be transmitted from the device. The supplier of the waterproof and dust-proof iPhone 7 chassis components is expected to be Catcher Technologies, according to DigiTimes.
